As Rotherham Family History Society now has Charitable Status we are able to claim tax back from HM Revenue and Customs in the form of Gift Aid. This means that at current rates the Society may claim back 22% of your Membership Subscription. That means in simple terms:
We cannot emphasize enough that there is no additional cost to you. As a RFHS member, the only thing that you need to do is to complete a Gift Aid Declaration, which gives us your permission to reclaim the tax on your subscription - Rotherham Family History Society will do the rest. However, to qualify to complete the declaration you MUST be paying an amount of Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the amount of tax that RFHS will reclaim in any appropriate tax year (see above). If you are retired and no longer pay income tax, please do not think that you are not eligible to complete the declaration. If you have a private pension you will probably be paying income tax on this also if you pay tax on bank interest this will also count. If you are unsure about whether you qualify to do this then please visit HM Revenue and Customs website by clicking on the link below: Gift Aid for Individuals (HM Revenue and Customs) If you are sure that you qualify then please print off, complete and sign the Gift Aid Declaration which can be found by clicking on the following link: Rotherham Family History Society Gift Aid Declatation (Unfortunately, an email declaration is not acceptable as an original signature is required.) Rotherham Family History Society understands that not all of its members are tax payers and are not able to complete the form, but would like to thank those members who have returned a Declaration to us. If you have not already done so please make the Declarations, you can do this at any time, there is no deadline set for us to receive it. |
