Photographic Archives If you are looking for photographs of long gone streets, houses or business premises where you, your parents, family or ancestors lived, worked and played, then try our collection. The Society has many thousands of photographs of places in and around Rotherham and prints of all of these can be purchased from the Society.. Many of our photographs were taken from the 1950’s onwards by local photographers George Bentley and Colin Leonard, however, we do have many more older images. The Society sells prints of these on the understanding that Rotherham Family History Society hold the copyright for them and that they are for your own personal use and will not be reproduced in any way or used for your financial gain. At our monthly Society meetings and at the many Family History Fairs we attend, a selection of these pictures are on display for you to browse. Due to the large number of photographs in our collections, only a limited number of them can be displayed but do not let this put you off. If you would like to find that missing memory then email us at the address below, or use the online enquiry form at the bottom of this page, giving as much detail as you can about the location and we will search our archive and let you know what we have, we can then organise the sale to you. Prices are: £2.50
per copy for size 6 X 4 Please note that we no longer offer A4 sized prints due to quality issues. Postage and packing is extra at 50p for up to 4 photographs and £1 for 5 or more (Overseas postage will be quoted at the time of ordering and depends upon the destination and weight of the parcel). Alternatively photographs may be ordered and then collected at the Society's next monthly meeting. Do
you have any photographs of “old” Rotherham and district,
or do you know anyone who does? If so would you/they be prepared
to allow the society to take copies of them with a view to selling
the copies to help raise funds for the society and further the study
of local, social and family history? Ruth Tootill, John Willis, Pat Bagnall, Ron & Janet Bye, Alan Soper and Carol Makin who
have all loaned the Society collections of photographs for this purpose. PLEASE don't interpret the word “old” too literally, any photograph which shows a structure, landmark or scene which no longer exists will be of interest even if only a few years old. If you think you can help please contact us at one of our monthly meetings or at the following email address: Photographic
